Description:

The Scientific Assemblies Coordinator and Vice Coordinator are appointed directly by the President with the approval of the Board of Directors to ensure that Scientific Assemblies(SAs) work is ongoing and coordinated among the SAs.

They will oversee a Scientific Assemblies Leadership Community made up of all the chair/vice chair positions of all the SAs as well as the Coordinator Team. Other tools, as needed, may be provided to facilitate their work.
The Vice Coordinator will move into the coordinator position at the conclusion of the Vice Coordinator term.

The Scientific Assemblies Coordinator will be an ex-officio member of the Virtual Learning Steering Committee. 

Scientific Assemblies Purpose

  • Organize scientific expertise within a specific discipline to inform ASCLS decision-making and direction-setting. This includes providing an expert review of educational proposals within the SA’s area of expertise.
  • Provide opportunities for basic and continuing education based on identified knowledge gaps within the profession.
  •  Identify and distill clinically relevant information to integrate new knowledge into the work of clinical laboratories.
  • Identify avenues for recognition and professional advancement.
  • Assist in developing clinical laboratory standards and positions.
  • Participate in CLS discipline-centered written and electronic communication.
  • Identify experts for scientific and professional activities.
  • Using the ASCLS Connect member communities, provide active engagement to build a stronger sense of community.
