The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science Developing Professionals Forum (DPF) would like to invite you and your fellow students to participate in Race to JAM! 

Race to JAM is a national competition for laboratory science students to show off their knowledge in a bracket-style trivia game. Prepare to test yourself in all subject areas of Medical Laboratory Science in the preliminary rounds on Zoom. The final 2 teams in the preliminary rounds will then be invited to the Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) to battle it out in person to claim first place. 

The Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) is a national conference where members of ASCLS and other laboratory organizations come together for more than 60 educational sessions, professional networking, and poster presentations. This event is a great opportunity for your students to network with current laboratory professionals and develop their leadership skills!

Important Dates:

  • Registration is NOW OPEN to interested teams and will close on Saturday, March 15th, 2025 @11:59 PM EST
  • Preliminary rounds will be conducted over Zoom on Saturday, April 12, 2025, starting @10 AM EST
  • The finals will be held in person at the 2025 Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) held June 8-12, 2025 in Sacramento, CA.
  • The winning team will be recognized during the awards ceremony at JAM

Eligibility:

  • Teams shall consist of a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 5 players
  • Players must have been enrolled as a student of an entry-level laboratory science program on January 1, 2025
    • (note: students who graduate post-January 1st are still eligible)
  • Players do not have to be ASCLS members to participate
  • Teams must designate an ASCLS Professional or Emeritus member to serve as a moderator
    • The role of the moderator is to directly supervise the team during the preliminary rounds to uphold the integrity of the games
  • Students do not need to belong to the same educational program to compete
    • If a team or individual needs assistance with creating a team, the ASCLS DPF is happy to help mediate and connect students with members in their area to fulfill the above requirement
  • More than one team can participate from a program or constituent society

Cost:

  • Each team will be required to pay a flat rate of $50 as an entry fee into the event to register

Finalist Awards:

  • The 2 remaining teams after preliminary play will be provided support towards travel and registration reimbursement to attend JAM and compete for the championship in a live in-person game.
