    Hello Colleagues,

The Patient Safety Committee is proud to announce that we have several new Patient Safety Tips available for you to share with your clients and health care providers.

Our latest Tips are:  Genetic Testing and a provider and patient version for Vitamin D.

We have a brand new format, updated with the ASCLS logo for a fresh new look for all of our Patient Safety Tips.  Other Patient Safety Tips that are available for you to download and share are:

    Lipid Testing
    Personal Coumadin INR Tracking
    Venipuncture
    24 Hour Urine
    Hydrogen Breath Test
    Fasting
    Glucose Tolerance

They may be found at http://www.ascls.org/advocacy-issues/patient-safety.

Any one of these Patient Safety Tips brochures would be perfect to share during Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (April 22--28, 2018).  They are also perfect to set out in your laboratory reception area year around--particularly the Venipuncture, Fasting and Glucose Tolerance.  The INR tracking Patient Safety Tips could be shared with patients who arrive the laboratory to have the INR collected or with the members of the Coagulation Clinic who monitor patients taking Coumadin.

These Patient Safety Tips brochures are evidence-based and peer-reviewed.  These are great tools to engage in patient-centered care--helping patients to understand their laboratory tests and improve the quality of their healthcare.
