Description: CMS has implemented the first major changes to the CLIA personnel qualification regulations in over 30 years, effective December 28, 2024. An understanding of these regulations is imperative for all laboratory personnel with supervisory responsibilities. This session will review the updated pathways for individuals to qualify for CLIA positions and discuss methods for documenting experience.

Objectives:

1. Explain the significant changes to the CLIA personnel regulations which were effective December 28, 2024.
2. Describe the new equivalency pathways available for evaluating an individual’s education.
3. Identify various methods for documenting the experience required for CLIA supervisory positions.
