The ASCLS Patient Safety Committee continues to develop Patient and Provider Safety Tip brochures for your use in providing testing information to your clients. We encourage you to customize, print (on two sides), and provide these brochures to your clients.

Patient Safety Tips: Diarrhea & Stool Testing brochure is now available for downloading and use.

This brochure provides guidance to patients on:
• What is diarrhea
• Symptoms associated with diarrhea
• When to see a doctor
• Common causes of diarrhea
• Stool testing quality tips

Possible uses include but are not limited to:
• Patient-centered education material
• Prevention of poor quality specimen submission
• Reinforcing appropriate communication with the laboratory or provider
